Welcome to our Woodland Retreat. A spacious and comfortable getaway located minutes from the beautiful town of Margaret River and world class beaches and wineries. See the sunset through the trees as you relax on the deck, watching the kangaroos and enjoying a glass of wine.
The space
The house is located on 6 acres and surrounded by native bush. It is in a quiet rural area, great for a peaceful getaway.
Green grass attracts kangaroos and birds, and possums and owls come out at night. Wildflowers and orchids abound in spring and in summer the fruit trees produce beautiful organic figs, apples and peaches. There is also an organic vegetable patch that you are welcome to forage in.
The local national forest is a short distance away with first class mountain biking trails to explore.
Guest access
Any spaces that are locked are not for guest access - otherwise, all other areas are accessible.
Other things to note
You will be staying in a place that is surrounded by bush. We therefore request that you light NO fires at all except in the fireplace inside during winter.
Smokers are not to go walking through the bush whilst smoking as a cigarette not properly extinguished could start a catastrophic bushfire.
We are solely dependent on the rainwater we collect in our tanks so water needs to used sparingly in the summer months.
We are also on deep septic tanks so please be mindful of not flushing ANYTHING but toilet paper down the toilets or there could be a backlog of sewerage come to visit you!
There is a small fish pond in the back yard that is not fenced off…please make sure small children are supervised when outside. Please do not feed the fish
anything and don’t let children throw food in the pond.
There will be some bird seed in a container for you to top up the bird feeder if you wish. Please make sure the lid is put back on the container to deter rodents.
Feel free to top up the bird baths if they get low with water from the tap…in summer kangaroos come in the early morning and evening to drink and birds will come to bathe. Bobtails and skinks will also come to drink when it’s hot.
There is a high wooden staircase in the house and no gate on it. Please supervise all children and babies on this and on the upper landing at all times.
