Positive: The apartment itself was comfortable, clean and a decent size, with a nice view and a good location. We enjoyed being within easy reach of the CBD and surrounding areas.
Negative: The biggest disappointment was the rooftop pool. I specifically booked this property because I wanted accommodation with a pool for a special trip to Perth for my university graduation. The pool is even featured in the property’s name, so it was clearly a major selling point and a significant reason I chose this apartment. We booked about a month in advance, but only around a week before our stay were told the pool would be undergoing “servicing” and may potentially be closed during our stay. On the day we arrived, we were then told the pool, gym and sauna would all be unavailable. The way this was communicated felt very disingenuous and misleading. During our stay, a resident told me the pool had already been out of action for approximately two months due to a more significant issue. I cannot independently verify those details, but when I went up to see the pool myself it was clearly completely unusable, with stagnant water in the bottom and pool equipment sitting in it. This strongly suggested the pool had been unavailable well before we were informed. If so, I do not think it was reasonable to continue advertising the property so prominently around its rooftop pool without clearly informing guests. Had we been told when booking that the pool was unavailable, I would have booked somewhere else. I deliberately booked a month in advance because this was an important trip and I wanted accommodation with the facilities I was paying for. Giving us only a week’s notice left us with far fewer alternatives during a busy weekend in Perth. The main issue was not simply that the pool was unavailable, but the lack of transparency. When the rooftop pool features in the property’s actual title and listing photos, guests should be clearly informed if it is unavailable before booking. What was advertised did not fairly reflect what was actually available during our stay.
Summary: Great apartment, but seriously let down by misleading communication and a lack of transparency.
