Tucked behind a magnificent Messmate,eucalyptus Obliquawhich is indigenous to the area, this house of architecturalobliqueangles sits at the base of the Otway Ranges, just a few minutes’ walk from the beach.
Designed by its owners in collaboration with local builder MJS Built,Obliquais warm and cosy, light and spacious, colourful and quirky.
With expertise in engineering and interiordesign, the owners have designed a robust holiday home that expresses their relaxed nature, love of mid-century design and
sets the tone for guests to unwind and discover the home's many comforts. Materials, textures, colours and views combine in creating the home's easy-going atmosphere. The sustainable cork flooring throughout creates warmth and a welcome backdrop for the playful bursts of vibrant colours - from the glossy green leaf-shaped tiles in the powder room to the orange vinyl dining furniture. There are matte textures of terra-cotta in the ensuite and sleek black kitchen cabinetry. Bold stripes are on theme in the ground floor bathroom and kids are catered for with bunks, a pull-apart modular cubby couch and integrated games cabinet and soccer table.
Throughout the home, the use of custom, hand made, and one of a kind items combines to bring a truly unique decor blend. From locally hand made concrete basins featured in each of the bathrooms, the glass pendant light trio in the stairwell, to the bright orange light shade over the dining table.
The cook's kitchen is very well equipped and includes induction cooktop, Gaggia coffee machine and separate grinder, Sliding doors open onto the timber deck with BBQ and outdoor furniture, and a spiral staircase heads upwards to a 180 degree ocean viewing deck with stunning views of the surf, sand, sunrise and sunset.
Upstairs, the main queen bedroom enjoys East facing ocean views, capturing the morning light. The statement ensuite bathroom of terracotta and black features a deep bath with ocean views and walk in shower. On the entry level is the second queen bedroom, which also faces East and features large sliding doors onto a patio, as well as the bunk room.
Admire the owners' handiwork of the custom designed and built timber window frames, as well as the built-in mid-century inspired timber bedroom furniture, TV cabinet and upholstered dining bench seat. They have even achieved a water ripple effect on the stainless-steel kitchen benchtop.
Obliqua is powered by 9kW of grid-connected solar panels with a 10kW Tesla Powerwall battery. If the power goes out, the battery will automatically power the house for a time. The house has LVI electric heaters throughout, as well as underfloor heating in the bathrooms, heated towel rails, and reverse cycle air conditioners upstairs in the living area and main bedroom.

The 2 person rate is for 2 people sharing one bedroom and bathroom. If you are 2 people requiring 2 bedrooms, select the 3 person rate.
Extra guests and/or beds/bedrooms used over what was booked for will incur an extra fee.
