Converted Stables: unique eco-stay accommodation on French Island | House in French Island

This unique and tranquil getaway is perfect for couples or solo travellers. Completely off-the-grid, the accommodation runs fully on solar and rainwater. It can sleeps two in a queen-sized bed; the kitchenette has an oven, gas cooktop, toaster, kettle, fridge and microwave. The living space has a TV, a range of books to read, and access to WIFI. Fresh linen, towels, tea, coffee, milk and bottled water are provided. A laundry is located onsite for guests to use throughout their stay.

You will enjoy total privacy during your stay, with self-check-in: your keys will be located at our general store. Relax and unwind with the whole cottage to yourself, including a private garden area, BBQ, and fire pit. Being located next to our store and licensed café (the only shop on the Island) gives you direct access to dine in meals, e-bike hire, car hire (enquire at store for hire costs), meals, wine, maps and groceries. There are also local souvenirs such as French Island wine, honey, soaps and candles.

The cottage it is centrally located on the island, being only 3 kms from the ferry, pristine beaches, fishing spots, walking tracks, and national park. You can create your own adventure – whether you walk, cycle or drive – spotting wildlife, numerous koalas, and protected plant species, all while enjoying solitude, peace and quiet.

To get to the island you can either catch a ferry from Stony Point (Mornington Peninsula); from Cowes (Phillip Island); or bring your own car on the barge from Corinella. A free shuttle bus service is provided complimentary for arrivals and departures - bookings essential.
