With crystal clear waters and white sands, Shoal Bay is undoubtedly one of the prettiest coastal towns Australia has to offer on the east coast and the perfect holiday destination. You can hire kayaks, stand up paddle boards (open everyday during the high seasons of school holidays, long weekends and Easter) and bicycles. A short stroll to the eastern end of the bay is the magnificent Tomaree National Park with spectacular views from the top of Mount Tomaree.
Facing the Tomaree National Park and headland, you will love the sounds of native birds and hearing the waves crashing gently against the shoreline. Just a 5-minute drive in the opposite direction brings you to Nelson Bay, and Fingal Bay Surf Lifesaving Club is a short drive away (approx. 2.3km) where you will find a surf patrolled swimming area and Learn to Surf Lessons during the warmer months.
